5052 aluminum coil belongs to the 5xxx series aluminum-magnesium alloy family, containing approximately 2.5% magnesium as the primary alloying element. This composition provides higher strength than 1xxx and 3xxx series alloys while maintaining good formability and corrosion resistance. The material undergoes continuous roller coating processes to apply organic coatings on one or both surfaces, producing a finished product ready for fabrication without additional surface treatment.

Different temper conditions provide varying mechanical properties for specific applications. O temper offers maximum formability for deep drawing operations, while H14 and H18 tempers provide increased strength for structural components. H32 through H38 tempers undergo stabilization treatment to reduce age softening during storage and processing.
Three coating systems are available, each formulated for specific environmental conditions and expected service life. Coating thickness is controlled within ±2μm tolerance during application, with total dry film thickness measured at multiple points across the coil width.
PE coatings use a thermosetting polyester resin system with a dry film thickness of 16-25μm. This coating provides good color retention and formability for interior applications and exterior environments with moderate UV exposure. Expected service life ranges from 5-8 years under normal atmospheric conditions. PE coatings are suitable for interior decoration, ceiling systems, and signage applications.
PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) coatings contain 70% fluoropolymer resin by weight, with a dry film thickness of 25-35μm. This system provides resistance to UV degradation, chalking, and chemical exposure, with expected service life of 15-20 years in exterior applications. PVDF coated aluminum coil is specified for roofing systems, exterior wall cladding, and coastal environment applications where corrosion resistance is required.
The CRAFTED coating system provides specialized textured and patterned finishes for decorative applications. This system includes matte, brushed, embossed, and wood-grain effects, with coating formulations adjusted to match specific appearance requirements while maintaining adhesion and formability properties.
The continuous coil coating line operates at line speeds of 30-80 meters per minute, with six sequential processing stages: alkaline cleaning, water rinsing, chromate conversion coating, primer application, finish coat application, and curing ovens maintained at 224-232°C metal temperature. Each production lot undergoes standardized testing: coating adhesion testing per ASTM D3359 (cross-hatch method), pencil hardness testing per ASTM D3363, impact resistance testing, and color difference measurement with ΔE controlled below 2.0 units.
Thickness measurements are taken at 50-meter intervals using beta gauges, with width tolerance maintained at ±0.5mm for narrow coils and ±1.0mm for widths exceeding 1500mm. All PE and PVDF coatings are formulated for post-formability. T-bend testing per ASTM D4145 achieves 0T to 2T performance depending on coating thickness and temper, allowing fabrication of roofing panels and formed parts without coating cracking when proper bend radii are maintained.
Color difference between production lots is controlled to ΔE < 2.0 units measured by spectrophotometer, which is below the threshold for visible color difference under standard lighting conditions. Color master samples are retained for 2 years for production reference.
A removable polyethylene protective film is applied to the finish surface as standard, with adhesion levels adjusted for different fabrication methods. The protective film should be removed within 6 months of installation and should not be exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods to prevent adhesive residue.
